Frederic G. Touney Jr., age 60 of Sidney, NE passed away at his home Thursday, January 24, 2013.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 29th in the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Leonard Suhr officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from 1-6:00 P.M. to sign Fred’s register book and drop off condolences.
A memorial is being established.

Frederic Gilbert Touney Jr., the son of Frederic Gilbert Sr. and Ethel Eilleen Elizabeth (Kinnersley) Touney, was born on October 8, 1952 at Dalton, NE. He attended Sidney Public Schools until moving with his family to Dupont, CO where he graduated from Adams High School. On October 16, 1971 he married Lorraine Miller. To this union five children were born: Bernadette, Janeene, Frederic III, Erica and Scott. Fred and his children returned to Sidney in 1990.
Fred attended WNCC studying auto body repair, Barnett Bicycle Institute and opened his own bicycle business, Touney and Associates Bicycle Repair in the late 1990’s. He later attended a Professional Truck Driving School in Hastings and drove for SWIFT and JB Hunt until his health forced his retirement. Earlier in his working career, Fred worked at the Sterling Journal Advocate and most recently for Pizza Hut.
In the early 1980s, he was active in the Cheyenne, WY Jaycees. Fred enjoyed activities with family and friends such as gun target practice, fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle, working on cars with his son and grandsons. He enjoyed playing games on the PlayStation with his grandkids, loved teaching many things to his daughters and always had a grandkid’s bicycle to fix. Fred was our Jack of all trades.
Survivors include his children: Bernadette Touney, Janeene Staab, Erica Portillo and husband Juan and Scott Touney and wife Sherry all of Sidney; (9) grandchildren: Joshua, Steffen, Tawny, Jedediah, Eric Aidan, Eric Leeson, Andrew, Freddy and Alexander; his siblings: Pauline Kinnersley of North Platte, NE, Caroline Anderson and husband Neal of Ansley, NE, Richard Touney and wife Linda of South Sioux City, NE and Kathryn Thies of Sidney.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, (1) son: Frederic G. III, (2) granddaughters: Ethel and Mary Touney and (1) brother-in-law: Dave Thies.
