CHRIS E. AHLM
Chris E. Ahlm, age 36 of Stratton, CO and former Gurley, NE resident passed away on June 1, 2016.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 17th with Wake Services at 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 16th. Both services will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton with Father Dave Rykwalder and Father Bryan Ernest officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday until 4:00 P.M. to sign Chris’ register book and drop off condolences for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in care of Brenda Ahlm, 4819 Rd 125, Gurley, NE 69141 or sent to the Point West Community Bank in Dalton. A fund is being established for his children’s education. Christopher Ernest Ahlm, the son of Rodney and Brenda (Ernest) Ahlm, was born on May 19, 1980 in Bridgeport, NE. He was raised in Gurley and graduated from Leyton High School in 1998. Chris later attended Mitchell Technical Institute in Mitchell, SD pursuing a degree in Powerline Maintenance and Construction. He graduated with honors in 2002. Following graduation he worked a short time for Kayton Electric, before joining KC Electric in Stratton. During his fourteen years at KC he obtained his Journeyman’s License.
Chris enjoyed outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting and boating. He was blessed with three beautiful daughters: Meadow age nine, Addy age seven and Makenna age one. Chris is survived by his daughters; his parents: Rodney and Brenda of Gurley; (1) sister: Leslie Risse and husband Keith of Martin, SD and their children: Maddux and Kendyll; his grandmother: Ellie Ernest of Dalton; special great-uncle: Cliff Beyer of Dalton and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by great-grandparents: Sexton and Mayme Ahlm and Willis and Sylvia Beyer; grandparents: Robert Ernest and Jeanette and Carl Ahlm.
