Roy Stroh, age 87 of Sidney, NE, passed away at Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport, October 22, 2018. Inurnment with Military Honors will be held in the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 31st . Memorial services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, October 31st in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney with Pastor Dave Hall officiating. Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday from 1-7:00 P.M. to sign Roy’s register book and leave condolences for the family. LeRoy Stroh, the son of John and Elizabeth (Schaneman) Stroh, was born on March 21, 1931 at Mitchell, NE. Following his High School graduation, Roy entered active duty with the United States Army, serving from 1952-1954 and was two miles from the Nuclear Test Shot and Atomic Explosion.
Following his Honorable Discharge, Roy returned to farm with his father near Minatare, NE. On June 18, 1965, Roy was united in marriage to Norma Jean Fink at Scottsbluff. Roy later became a meat cutter for Bob’s Superette before moving to Sidney in 1969. He was a meat cutter for Town & Country Market and then served as Meat Manager for the old and new Safeway Stores. He retired at age 65.
Roy was always proud of being the first to bowl a 300 game at Classic Lanes in Gering. He had been baptized, confirmed and married in the Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran in Sidney.
Survivors include his wife: Norma; (3) children: Kenneth Leroy Stroh and wife CJ, Monica Rutherford and husband Mark and Greg Stroh; (3) sisters: Violet Rein, Jackie Merrigan and husband John and Shirley Robertson; (1) brother: Dr. John Stroh and wife Vickie; (1) brother-in-law: Gary Hahn; (5) grandchildren: Hannah, Amy, Sean, Ben and Anthony; (8) great-grandchildren; (2) great-great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; (2) sisters: Betty Heilbrun and husband Harold and Jeri Hahn; and (1) brother-in-law: Harold Rein.
