Obituary for Emily Sue Johnson

EMILY S. JOHNSON

Emily Sue Johnson was born on June 21, 1992. She was reunited with her infant son on August 18, 2016. Emily passed away peacefully at Rocky Mountain Hospital in Denver, CO due to complications from her illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 27th in the Chappell United Methodist Church with Rev. David Abbott and Pastor Kathy Montira officiating. Burial will be in the Chappell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 on Friday, in the Chappell United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Emily Johnson Memorial Fund in care of the Adams State Bank in Chappell. Emily Sue Johnson the daughter of Teresa (Johnson) Green was born in Broken Bow, NE. She attended Sandhills Public Schools where she participated in FFA, wrestling, softball, basketball where she earned the nickname “mosquito”, and was an excellent drummer in the Pep Band. They moved to Chappell in 2005 and graduated from Creek Valley High School in 2010. While attending Creek Valley, Emily was involved in FFA, FBLA, track, marching and pep bands and her favorite sport basketball. While in High School Emily obtained her CNA Degree and worked at the Miller Memorial Care Center.
The highlight of her life was helping coach Middle School basketball. She enjoyed working on Semis with her father which is where she received yet another nickname, “Miss Goodwrench”. She enjoyed spending her spare time on motorcycle rides with her family, playing on a pool leagues and spending time with friends. Even though Emily became ill in 2012, she continued to live life to the fullest. After many battles with her illness, she left Burlington, CO to be closer to home and continued her treatments with the support and help of her family.
Emily was preceded in death by her grandpa: Gene Johnson, son: Zachary Johnson, great-grandparents: Lloyd and Emily Beth Britton and Wayne and Maybelle (Johnson) Pierce.
Survivors include her parents: Jim and Teresa Green, sister: Elizabeth Green all of Chappell, brother: Eugene Bailey of McCook, NE, grandmother: Sue Johnson of Dunning, NE, aunt and uncle: Mike and Brenda Corbin of Thedford, NE, Brittany Johnson Cousin of Ord, NE, Step-Brother: Josh and Amanda Green and daughter Alexa of Sidney, Step-Brother Jake and Ashley Green and their sons Zayn and Kynide of Sutherland, NE and Step- sister Jessica and John Baker of Bellevue, NE and numerous extended family members and friends.
Emily will be greatly missed but not forgotten by the countless lives that she has touched.
