Obituary for Eula M. Zwickl

EULA M. ZWICKL

Mrs. Eula Mae Zwickl, 92, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 in North Platte at Linden Court where she was a resident for the past six years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 12 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney, Nebraska with Fr. Jim Heithoff officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held on Wednesday, January 11 at 6 pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

A memorial will be established by the family at a later date.

Eula was born September 16, 1924 in Vero Beach, Florida to Mr. John Burton and Mrs. Tinnie Viola Vann Whiddon.

Eula married Eugene S. Zwickl in Tallahassee, Florida in 1944. Upon moving to Sidney Nebraska the couple farmed and Eula taught preschool and dance for 25 years. The proceeds from her yearly dance recitals and the traveling group of clog dancers that she instructed were donated to the March of Dimes organization. Her motto was “We Dance So That Others May Walk”. Eula was also an active 4-H Leader, helping kids at the local and state level. She was an active member of the Sidney Community and the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son Dan Zwickl, and his wife DeAnn of Grant, Nebraska. A daughter June Robinson, and her husband Russ Derickson of North Platte, Nebraska. Grandchildren include Angie Patrick (Trent), Trent Zwickl (Diane), and Jennifer Wise (Chad), Traci Cummings (John), Trisha Storer (Garrett) and Toby Robinson (Melissa) and 18 great-grandchildren.
