Barbara Lenz

Barbara J. Lenz, age 88, of Chappell, NE passed away at home with her loved ones at her side on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell, NE with Pastor Neil Carlson officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Church from 9:00 A.M. until service time to sign Barb’s register book and leave condolences for the family. Memorials may be made in Barb’s name to the Zion Lutheran Church, Adopt-a-Dog or SRMC Hospice. Barbara Jean (Parriott) Lenz was born February 14, 1932 in Kearney, NE to Malcolm and Julia (Porter) Parriott. She grew up in Franklin, NE where she attended school and graduated with the Class of 1950. While in school, she was active in many activities, being a cheerleader and drum majorette in the marching band. Her dad operated a sale barn and she was very fond of animals of all kinds. She always had a dog, cat and a horse. After graduating from high school, she attended Kearney State Teacher’s College.
In 1952, she was united in marriage to Darrell Lenz on June 14, 1952. In October of 1953, their first daughter Julee Ann was born in Kearney at the Good Samaritan Hospital, the same hospital where Barbara was born. After graduating college, the family moved to Trenton, NE where Darrell was a teacher and coach for three years. On June 22, 1957, their second daughter Nancy Lee was born in McCook NE and in August 1957 the family moved to Chappell where she spent the rest of her life. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and had a strong and enduring faith in our Lord and Savior. Her greatest quest in life was being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was blessed with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In later years, she enjoyed being a part of several bridge clubs and enjoyed many hours of association with friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, one aunt, three uncles and numerous relatives.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Darrell; daughter Julee Carlson and husband Ben, Nancy Lang and husband Tim, grandchildren; Jamie and Amie Carlson, Kylee Jo Carlson of Colorado Springs, Lucas, Kelby and Austin Lang of Wyoming, great-grandchildren, Zane, Addie and Beau Carlson of Chappell, NE.
