Betty Ann Grothe, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Dvorak) Cizek was born on July 8th, 1937 at Potter, NE. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed sitting out on her deck with a book and her favorite beverage. She helped her father Joe manage the Cizek Greenhouse for many years while being a stay home mom raising 5 children. When her youngest son went into the military, she went to work for the Fort Sidney Hotel. Betty retired from Cabela’s Foremost Outfitters. Upon retirement she moved to Lake McConaughy, so she could look out at the lake and enjoy the sun, loads of Reese’s Peanut Butter cups and her book. Betty had a very well-placed sense of humor frequently coming up with the most sarcastic, funny, and witty replies to keep us all in our place.
Betty is survived by her 5 children; Tony and Debra Grothe of Ogallala, NE, Greg and Cheryl Grothe of Groveland , FL, Jim and Sheryl Grothe of Gilbert, AZ, Karen and Kerry Davis of Castle Rock, CO and John and Jenna Grothe of Lakeside, AZ. Ten grandchildren, Kristi, Michael, Jaclyn, Mark, Nick, Emily, Audrianna, Austin, Hannah, and Amber, and 5 great grandchildren Tanner, Lyla, Adeline, Aspen and Jaxon.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Marie Cizek, her husband Robert “Bob” Grothe of 46 years and her daughter-in-law Debbie Jo Grothe.
