Obituary for Charlotte M Lavalleur

Charlotte Vizina Lavalleur, age 91, of Sidney, passed away in Sidney, NE on Thursday, February 2, 2023. Rosary services will be on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney, NE with Father C.P. Varghese officiating.
Cremation has been held. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday June 8, 2023 from 1-6:00 P.M. to sign Charlotte’s book. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Charlotte’s care and funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made in care of the family for later designation.
Charlotte was born on August 17, 1931 in Dalton, NE to Anton and Edith Schmitt. She lived most of her life in Sidney. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1948. Charlotte married Donald L. Vizina on May 28, 1955 in Santa Monica, CA and moved back to Sidney a few months later.
She worked at the American National Bank, Sidney National Bank, A-1 Printing and Cabela’s before retiring in 1985.
She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church where she served as a Liturgical Minister. She also belonged to the Cabela’s retired luncheon club and neighborhood birthday club. Her hobbies were gardening and working on crafts.
She is survived by her children daughter Nan Nielson of Sidney, NE, son Brad Vizina and wife Jackey of Sidney, NE, daughter Lynn and husband Elvin Helms of Kimball, NE, Brian Vizina of Sidney, NE, son Brett Vizina and wife Stacy of Cheyenne, WY, one sister Ileen Bernhardt of Florida, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don Vizina, her son Bruce Vizina, her parents, brothers Louis Schmitt and Sylvester Schmitt, sisters Rose Loyd and “Uke” Pelster, son-in-law Leo Nielson and grandson Donnie Vizina.
