Obituary for Cheryl Kieso

Cheryl Kieso, age 65 of Watertown, SD and formerly of Sidney, NE passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown, SD. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, SD. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Church. The Houseman Funeral Home of Clear Lake is entrusted with the arrangements. Cheryl was born on November 10, 1954 along with her twin brother Daryl to Clarence and Sylvia (Maass) Hartsel at Memorial Hospital in Clear Lake, SD and was raised on the family farm by rural Altamont, SD where she attended Rush Lake School District #44 through 8th grade. She attended Hayti High School and Clear Lake High School where she graduated in 1973. She was united in marriage with Steve Ellis in June 1974 of which three daughters were blessed to this union. In March of 1996, she married Danny Kieso.

Throughout her life she worked a wide variety of jobs, but none were as rewarding or fulfilling as her truck driving career.

She had a deep love for music, babies, animals, her flower gardens and spending time with family and friends.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Danny, Watertown, SD; daughters Kasey (Jason) Van Liere, Watertown, SD; Krissa (Joel) Gerberding, Castlewood, SD; Korey (Donny) Wells, Sidney, NE and 1 son Justin (LaTisha) Kieso, Blue Springs, MO; 6 siblings Judith Gilbertson, Milbank, SD; Janice (Dana) DeVille, Rapid City, SD; Dale (Patty) Hartsel, Brookings, SD; Jeanne (Lyle) Olson, Bella Vista, AR; twin brother Daryl (Catherine) Hartsel, Chanhassen, MN; and Ron (Anna) Hartsel, Maple Grove, MN; 11 grandchildren Kane and Aric Taylor, Meagan (Kyle) Long and Terrin (Nate) VanCura; Jacey (Tyson) Petrich and Ally Helle, Dylan and Dalayne Gerberding; Jordan, Mason and Devon Kieso; and 3 great-grandchildren Oliver Petrich and Kylie and Lukas Long.

She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Sylvia Hartsel, sister JoAnn Shaver, grandson Mason Helle, 2 nieces Kathryn and Kaitlyn Hartsel, and great niece MaKayla Corothers.
