Obituary for Chris Rieken

Christian M. “Chris” Rieken, age 64, of Sidney, NE, passed away on March 17, 2022 at KC University Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 25, 2022, at Berea Lutheran Church in Chappell, NE with Pastor Scotty Ray officiating. Burial will take place in the Berea Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in care of the family for later designation. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1-6:00 P.M.

Being the son of Leonard Rieken and Mary Ann (Treinen) Rieken was born on June 25, 1957 in Sidney, NE. Chris was raised on the farm south of Sidney and participated in 4-H. He attended Sidney St. Pat’s High School and graduated in 1976. He went on to attend Cheyenne, WY Community College.
On February 15, 1986, he was married to Glenda (Carlson) Rima of Sidney, NE.
Chris had the enjoyment of Jet Ski riding, Motorcyle riding and visiting the many friends he met while riding his motorcycle and attending Sturgis Rally for over thirty years. Over the years Chris did Custom Combining, Oil Field Work, worked at Cabela’s Whse, Installed DISH TV Systems and delivered propane as well as construction. He especially enjoyed the great workers at his last employment with Koss Construction in Wichita, KS as a truck driver. Chris had been a member of the Sidney Elks and the A.B.A.T.E. Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda, and 3 step-children, Michelle Onken of Springfield, MO, Karla and husband Ron Morlock of Lodgepole, NE and Kyle and wife Sue Rima of Lincoln, NE, one brother Keith and wife Marilyn Rieken, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grand-children, several nephews, nieces, and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Mary Ann Rieken, sister Rosjean Rieken and brother Ron Rieken.
