Daniel Leonard O’Dell, the son of Garland O’Dell and LaVonne (Jacobs) O’Dell, was born on March 2, 1955 in Oshkosh, NE. He attended school in Oshkosh before moving to Sidney, where he met and married his wife Cindy. They then moved to Hermiston, OR for several years before returning to Sidney.
Dan had a passion for life and everyone in it. He was an avid gardener, who loved the outdoors. There was never a conversation that didn’t include a story about his garden. He adored his family and always had time to help out a friend. He loved to volunteer at church functions and within the community. If Dan was your friend, then he was a friend for life. He treated everyone with respect and kindness and would give his last dollar or the shirt off of his back if he thought it would make their day a little easier. Dan loved to make people happy and always had a smile on his face.
Survivors include his sister: Deb Wieser and husband Randy of Sidney; his nieces and nephews: Natasha Haupt and husband Richard of Sidney; Cody Aure of Sioux Falls, SD; Randa Doty and husband Jeff of Wichita, KS; Ashlee Melton and husband Garrett of Wichita, KS; Ryan Wieser and wife Katie of Wichita, KS; numerous great nieces and nephews; step-daughter Andrea Barron and many extended family members and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife Cindy; mother and father; brother Ronald O’Dell; and nephew Donald Lee Vizina.
