David Dennis Carew, age 89, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019, in Sidney, NE.

David Dennis Carew was born January 23, 1930 in Madison, WI to Alvin Dennis and Margaret (Hayes) Carew. He attended Green Lake High School in Wisconsin where he was senior class President and graduated Valedictorian of his class. David received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from The University of Wisconsin.
David was an Advertising Executive in Chicago and Milwaukee then moved to Colorado and owned a motel. He also worked for the Manitou Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s office. He belonged to a 4-wheel drive club where he drove to the top of Pikes Peak on New Year’s Eve to pick up the AdAman members and participated in club drives and camping weekends with his family. He had a long-standing love of reading, from reading under the covers with a flashlight as a kid to reading a book a day more recently.
He was a lifelong photographer, Air Force photographer, photojournalist for local papers and had a passion for writing and photography. His hobbies included enjoying sports cars and car clubs where he participated in car rally’s and repairing and riding bicycles. His love of dogs was enduring from his childhood family spaniel through his golden retrievers as an adult. He was a VFW member and served as an honor guard for local funerals and during Memorial Day activities. David enjoyed target and skeet shooting along with hunting pheasants and big game. He was active in his community Methodist Church and participated in civic events. He had an immense vocabulary and was an avid solver of crossword puzzles.
David’s greatest passion was his deep love for his family.
David is survived by his wife of 25 years, Pastor Betsy Galloway-Carew, sister; Mary Margaret Pierce, daughters; Patty Parrett and Karen Popham and husband Ralph; son; Jim Carew and wife Lori; grandchildren Sarah Parrett, Emily Parrett, Reilly Carew and Alex Carew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Alvin and Margaret Carew, his brother Jack Carew, his sister Jean Anne Jones and his son-in-law, Michael Parrett.
