Obituary for Dean Christensen

W. DEAN CHRISTENSEN
W. Dean Christensen, age 86 of Lodgepole, NE passed away at his home Saturday, March 23, 2019.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 30th in the Lodgepole United Methodist Church with Rev. David Abbott and Larry Christensen officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery north of Lodgepole with Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made in Dean’s name to the Lodgepole Museum or the Lodgepole United Methodist Church. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1-7:00 P.M. to sign Dean’s register book and drop off condolences for the family. Family will be present from 5-7:00 P.M. Warren Dean Christensen, the son of Wilbert Ned “Bill” and Freda Emma Augusta (Sick) Christensen, was born on September 20, 1932 at Chappell, NE. He attended the Goodview and Lodgepole Schools and graduated from Lodgepole High School in 1950. He served in the United States Army from October 1952 to November 1954. Dean was a farmer/rancher all of his life.
Dean was a lifelong member of the Lodgepole United Methodist Church, a member of Golden Rod Masonic Lodge #306, the American Legion Post #286, served as Goodview 4-H Leader for nearly thirty years and drove the school bus for Lodgepole Public Schools for forty-four years.
On January 23, 1955, Dean was united in marriage to Dixie Ann Dykman at Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Lodgepole. Four children were born to this union, Rick, Mark, Jay and Crystal.
Survivors include (3) children: Rick and wife Terry of Lodgepole, Mark and wife Lana of Raymond, NE and Crystal Richard and husband Dean of Chatham, MI; (10) grandchildren: Shannon Schrotberger and husband Tony, Shawn Christensen and wife Kelley, Coleman Christensen and wife Kara, Conner Christensen and wife Molly, Ben Richard and fiancé Amy Wilde, Cason Christensen and wife Hayley, Branson Richard and wife Sally, Bryce Richard, Callie Christensen and Bethany Carlson and husband Vince; (8) great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Bailey and Rylee Schrotberger, Jonathan Christensen and Keaton Christensen, Warren Richard, and (2) on the way; (1) brother-in-law: Doug Riley and numerous extended family members and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dixie, Dixie’s parents, Walter and Ruby Dykman, (1) son: Jay, (1) granddaughter: Carli Christensen, (1) brother: Billy Ray Christensen and wife Ardyce, (1) sister: Margaret Helen Riley, (1) sister-in-law: Judy Fraass and husband Albert.
Dean’s family takes comfort in knowing that Dean and Dixie are now back together again.
