Dennis Stone Guthrie, age 86, passed away in Sidney, Nebraska on February 27, 2020. Cremation has occurred. Inurnment with full military honors will be conducted at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery at WaKeeney, Kansas. Services will be held at a later date due to the CDCs recommendation of no groups larger than 10 people. Cremation has been held. Dennis was born in Bismarck, North Dakota to Earl Guthrie and Nellie Stone Guthrie on September 15, 1933. He was the youngest of seven children. He was raised on a farm in Surrey, ND, and attended school there. Dennis served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean war. After his service years, he returned to North Dakota where he met and married Sharon Kinzell. Together they had four children. Dennis was a self-taught sheet metal worker. He moved his young family to Loveland, Colorado for work. He joined the Sheet Metal Workers Local #9 out of Denver, CO.
Dennis is survived by his sister, Gail Nordstrom of Velva, ND, and his children, Peggy Scheck of Loveland, CO; Penny Olmstead of Kalispell, MT; Laura Friend (Marty) of Peetz, CO; Sam Guthrie (Katie) of Loveland, CO. In addition to numerous nieces and nephews, Dennis had 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Nellie, and brothers–James, Douglas, Howard, and sisters–Faith and Lois.
