Obituary

Tuesday, July 14, 2020, Earl Ray Hauge – beloved husband, father, and grandfather – passed away at his home at the age of 51. Earl was born on December 5, 1968 in Minot, ND to Floyd “Terry” and Connie Hauge. After graduating from New Town High School in 1987, he attended Dickinson State University for CDL training. Earl also studied animal science at North Dakota State University and later earned a degree in Architectural Drafting and Design from the North Dakota State College of Science. Earl moved several times during his career and lived in Loveland, CO while working for the Plains Oil Company of Cheyenne. Most recently, he worked remotely in Sidney as a roof and floor truss designer with Universal Forest Products.
June 3, 1989, Earl married Ann Karbowski of rural Palermo, ND at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in New Town. The couple raised three children together. In 2009, he met his future wife, Pamela Onken, of Sidney, NE. In a celebration with their children and grandchildren, the two were married on Sand Key Beach in Tampa, Florida on December 13, 2014. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Earl enjoyed camping, traveling, concerts, and cooking. As a young man, he developed a passion for rodeo, even working as a bull fighter named Otis. In his later years, Earl achieved his lifelong dream of owning a ranch and raising bucking bulls alongside his wife, Pam.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Tami Hauge. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Hauge; his three children, Kayla Hauge of Fort Collins, CO, Kelsey Hauge (Justin Franzen) of Sidney, NE, and Marcus Hauge of Peoria, IL; three step-children, Randa (Jeff) Doty, Ashlee (Garrett) Melton, and Ryan (Katie) Wieser of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Ariah, Jelena, Ayah, and Derek; five step-grandchildren, Bodhi, Kellen, Easton, Kyla, and Ryker; and three brothers, Bert Hauge of New Town, ND, Terry (Barb) Hauge of Piedmont, SD, and Kenny (Carroll) Rolfe of Sheridan, WY.
A memorial visitation for Earl will be held at Gehrig-Stitt Chapel in Sidney, NE on Wednesday, July 22nd from one o’clock to seven o’clock p.m. Family will be present from four o’clock to six o’clock. A graveside ceremony will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Thursday, July 23 at ten o’clock a.m. A memorial is being established.

Earl wasn’t just a friend, he was family. His absence leaves a void, an unfillable void because no one else was like Earl. My heart goes out to his family, his children, to Pam. I cannot imagine your loss, and I am so sorry things ended up this way. My hope is that through all of the struggles, Earl understood the true impact he had on this world, the positive effect he had on people. Our kids thought the world of him and couldn’t wait to spend time with he and Pam next month. Heartbroken we will no longer be making that trip. I still cannot wrap my brain around the fact he’s gone. He’s missed, dearly. ❤️

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Earl, years, he graduated from NewTown high school a year before me. I knew his parent's Terry and Connie, we would go visit them on there farm quite a bit growing up, his dad Terry was my dads (Milton Baker) sponser, they became close, so did my mom (Arlene) and his mom Connie. He showed my how to milk a cow, not as easy as it looks! His mom was the best cook! Again, I am so sorry for your loss!
