Obituary for Elaine M Ransom
Elaine Marie (Johnson) Ransom, age 95, of Sidney, NE passed away at home with her family present on Sunday, December 20, 2020, losing her life to cancer. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Light Memorial Presbyterian Church with Reverend Mary Jo Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Memorials can made in Elaine’s name to Light Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1345 Linden Street, Sidney, NE 69162. She was born to Ed and Edith Johnson of Ceresco, NE on August 8, 1925. She grew up on a farm north of Ceresco and graduated from Ceresco High School, then attended and graduated from Lincoln School of Commerce & Business. While working in Lincoln, NE she met Emerson Ransom and they were married on Oct 29, 1950, spending many happy years together. They moved to Sidney in 1966 and then to their home on Laredo Lane in 1969. Elaine worked for the Story Agency and for Sidney First National Bank. She was a member of Light Memorial Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband Emerson, son Steven and wife, Karen Ransom of Fort Laramie, WY, daughter Joan Ransom of Cedar Rapids, IA, sisters Gladys Fitl of Lincoln, NE and Marian and husband, Glenn Samuelson of Ceresco, NE, four grandchildren David Ransom of Casper, WY, Kayla Ransom of Bellevue, NE, Stephanie Ransom of Spearfish, SD and Brenda Ransom of Sidney, NE, and by 22 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Ethel Mae.
