Evelyn “Evie” Mary (Dormann) Misegadis was born on February 1, 1924 to Fred and Emma (Reinwald) Dormann in Jansen, Nebraska. She was baptized in Jefferson County on February 24, 1924. In 1925 the family moved to Garden County. Evelyn was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell, NE in 1938. She graduated from Chappell High School in 1941. During WWII she moved to Los Angeles, CA and worked at Lockheed Aircraft from 1942–1945. After the war she returned to Nebraska and married Gilbert Robert Misegadis, on February 17, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell. They farmed and made their home south of Sunol. There they raised 5 children – Lynda, Richard, Doyle, Donald, and Theresa. Evelyn loved being outside and loved to work in her garden and canning the fruits of her labor. Picking her strawberries with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, ridding her yard of the “yellow flowers” and pine cones was an obsession of hers. She was also a fantastic cook, cooking for her boys for their lunches and knew everyone’s favorite dish to make special for them. When the weather turned colder, she would spend hours crocheting and quilting as well baking and cooking for her family. She always had a stash of cookies for those visits from her cherished family of kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who always brought a sparkle to her eye and a smile to her face. She had a soft spot for babies, seeing her family grow brought her great joy, and if a baby was around to be held, she was the one holding it. She lived at her home in Sunol until December of 2019. She spent her remaining days at Sidney Regional Extended Care where she celebrated her 96th birthday just one month and a day before she passed to be with her Lord.
She is survived by her children, Lynda and Lyle Johnson of Hebron, Richard Misegadis of Sunol, Doyle and April Misegadis of rural Sidney, Donald Misegadis and Jeannette Ford of Sidney, and Theresa and Wayne Wild of Broken Arrow, OK. Grandchildren: Gregory & Lisa, Matthew & Nicolle and Tyler & Lauren Johnson, Carrie Uhrig, Jerad & Desteny and Justin & Cortney Misegadis, Misty & Kelly Michelman, Catherine & Bret Bondegard, Joshua & Shanna Misegadis, Christopher & Marina Wild and Mikaela & Andy Smith.
