Florence M. “Dolly” Flohr, age 92, of Dalton, NE passed away Friday, April 26, 2019 in Sidney.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 2nd at the Dalton Cemetery with Pastor Leon “Bud” Gillespie officiating. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Event Center, 1212 10th Ave., on Wednesday from 1-7:00 P.M. with family present from 4-6:00. Memorial contributions may be made in Dolly’s name to the Dalton American Legion Auxiliary Post #301. Florence Mae “Dolly” Flohr was born February 16, 1927, in Dalton, NE to Perry and Maude (Bassett) Neel. Dolly was one of 12 children, with two sisters and nine brothers. Dolly was united in marriage to Alex Flohr on Sept 20, 1946 in Harrisburg, NE by the Honorable Judge Shafto. Dolly was a hard worker doing everything from waitressing, cleaning, and working for the Egging Company and finally retiring from Cabela’s. Dolly loved to bake; she was famous for her cinnamon rolls and rye bread. She had a huge heart and wouldn’t tell anyone no who was in need of help, often reaching out to those that needed it. Alex would precede her in death on November 17, 1979. Dolly was a member of Dalton Trinity Lutheran Church, being baptized Presbyterian in Dalton and confirmed at the Dalton Trinity Lutheran Church on April 17, 1949.
Dolly is survived by her children Don of Sidney, NE, Rich and wife Connie of Ulysses, KS, Phil and wife Twila of Gurley, NE, daughter Norma Wright and husband Steve of Sidney, NE, Joe of Dalhart, TX, and Bill of Denver, CO; brother Glen of Sterling, CO; sister-in-law Amelia Stanley of Olympia, WA; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alex, eight brothers, two sisters, special friend John Lessig, daughter-in-law Karen Flohr and an infant grandson.
