Jack Shirl Flohr, the son of Henry and Lydia (Schaub) Flohr was born on a farm northeast of Kimball, Nebraska on June 9, 1937. From humble beginnings, Jack worked many jobs from the ripe age of 4 years old. Farm tasks, paper & shoe shine boy for troops travelling through Nebraska during WWII, carnival popcorn sales, potato seed slicer, dish washer, bowling alley pin setter (yes, this was manual), drive-in theater attendant, oil field worker, roofer, stack boy at Star Mart Warehouse and shop employee at Elwell Motors. He was always a hard worker and found a job.
Jack graduated from Sidney High School in in 1955 where he excelled in mathematics, basketball, track & field. After graduation, Jack gained employment at the American National Bank as a teller on October 21, 1955. He later assumed the role of Senior Vice President after completing extended education at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Jack eventually retired from his 44-year banking career where he made lasting relationships.
In 1961, Jack enlisted in the US Army- National Guard. He was skilled in marksmanship, navigation and artillery where he progressed in service until an honorable discharge in 1966.
In the 60’s, Jack also met the love of his life (Shirley) to which brought a 52-year marriage.
Jack was a meaningful, yet, very silent contributor and advocate of the community. These vacancies have not been immediately felt. However, his smile, wit and sense of humor are noticeably absent.
He loved: America, Shirley, Family/Friends, Fishing & Hunting, Sidney Community, Red Raider and Cornhusker Athletics.
Jack was preceded in passing by: Shirley Flohr (Wife); Henry & Lydia Flohr (Parents); Richard & Maxine Louks (Parents-In-Law); Cleo (Sister) & Glen Reed; Jane (Sister) & Bobby Bitz; Richard (Brother) & Loraine Flohr; Conrad (Brother) Flohr, Nieces, Nephews and Extended Family.

Uncle Jack, I will not be in the church for your services but I think you knew how much I respected and loved you while you were here on earth. I have so many wonderful memories of you from the time I actually started forming memories of my life, very early childhood. I am 62 now and could write a long book of the GREAT memories made with you. Writing with our toes, ribbit..ribbit. When I was small always having gum for me during services at Holy Trinity and how as a God father you not only taught me but showed me, by example, how to live a good Christian life. Peace Be With You!!
