Obituary for Jerry T Kallhoff

Jerome “Jerry” T. Kallhoff, age 89, of Chadron, NE and formerly Dalton, NE, passed away on May 18, 2022, in Chadron. Cremation has taken place. Wake services will be held at 10:00 A.M. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron, NE with Father Todd Philipsen officiating. Services will be recorded and available on our website for viewing. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dalton, NE at 2:30 P.M.
Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Chadron Hospice both in Chadron, NE.

Jerome “Jerry” Kallhoff was born to Ted & Lena (Reiners) Kallhoff on January 26, 1933 and was raised on a wheat farm near Gurley, NE. He attended Chadron State College, and taught school one year before being drafted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon return from the Army in 1956, employment was obtained at the Graff Insurance Agency in Dalton, NE. He and his wife purchased the Graff Agency in 1958, and owned and operated it until 1962, when State Farm offered him a contract, and he became a contract agent with State Farm in Sidney, NE. He was then offered and accepted an agency management position in Chadron, NE with State Farm in 1966. From there he moved to Sioux City, IA and built a district agency there in 1979. In 1986 Jerry was promoted to Agency Director for State Farm in charge of the states of North Dakota and South Dakota and at that time moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Jerry retired in 1995 and he & Linda moved back to their much-loved home community in Chadron, NE in 1997 and lived there until his passing this year.
Jerry loved golf, bowling, bird hunting and fishing, and knew no strangers. He could & would talk to anyone & everyone.
Jerry met his wife Linda of 63 years at a rural youth organization dance and after a courtship married on May 31, 1958. They had four daughters Julie Rust and husband Craig, Gina Jackson, Lisa Sokolowski and husband Dave & Laura Goeltl and husband Joel.
Jerry is survived by his wife, 4 daughters, 12 grandkids, and 16 great-grandkids.
Preceded in death by his mother Lena Kallhoff, father Ted Kallhoff, brothers Dick Kallhoff & Bob Kallhoff & sister Marie Kallhoff Harris.
