Jim Dickman, age 70 of Sidney, NE was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on December 3rd, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 7th, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sidney Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Doug Birky officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1-7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to the Sidney Evangelical Free Church.
Jim Dickman was born to Mandus LeRoy “Roy” Dickman and Freda Waneta Leck Pilger on February 9th, 1948 in Denver, CO. Jim graduated from Northglenn High School in CO. Jim was united in marriage with Sally Anderson on September 8th, 1967. Jim and Sally moved to Sidney in 1973, where he built campers and cabinets for Jade Camper Company. After a few years in Sidney, Jim started working for Wheatbelt Public Power REA where he worked for 37 years until retirement. He was very active in the church where he taught Sunday school, and led men’s bible studies. He attended Promise Keepers “Stand in the Gap” conference in Washington, D.C. as well as many other Promise Keeper conferences, encouraging men in the community to attend with him. He enjoyed helping organize men’s “Wild Game Feeds”, Christian golf league, and family kite flying days at the church. He faithfully served his church as an Elder, Trustee, and board member. In his spare time he enjoyed outdoor activities of camping, fishing, hunting and golfing. Jim especially enjoyed his role as, “Grandpa,” to his five grandchildren.
Jim will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Sally Dickman, Mother, Freda Pilger of Loveland, CO; sons, Jimmy and wife Angela Dickman, Michael and wife Rebekah Dickman all of Sidney, sisters, Charlene Morgan of Commerce City, CO; Diana Keck of Windsor, CO; Cheryl and husband Mark Truax of Dacono, CO; brothers Don and wife Brenda Pilger of Wichita, KS and John and wife Becky Pilger of Greeley, CO; grandchildren: Zach, Colby, Sawyer, Parker, and Callie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Mandus “Roy” Dickman and his step-father Jerry Pilger.
