Mary E. Schadegg, age 104, of Sidney, NE passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019 in Sidney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 13, 2019, with a Wake service being held Wednesday, June 12th at 6:00 P.M. Both services will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney with Father Mike McDermott officiating. Inurnment will follow Mass in the Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Mary’s name to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday from 1-4:00 P.M. to sign Mary’s register book and drop off condolences for the family. Mary Elizabeth Schadegg was born on April 28, 1915 in Wilhelmina, MO to Theodore and Mary Magdelene (Schinzel) Egging. She was the fourth oldest of 13 children.
Mary was a homemaker and involved in many activities with St. Patrick’s Church. She and Ernie supervised the St. Patrick’s boarding house for several years. They also ran a filling station for a while which later became Virgil’s Restaurant. Throughout the years Mary worked at McDonalds Clothing Store, Fabric Boutique and Memorial Hospital in Sidney as a nurses Aid. She was a fan of working Crossword Puzzles and playing Bingo. Following the loss of Ernie in June 1990, Mary moved to Western Heritage for a number of years. She then moved to Sidney Regional Hospital Extended Care until her passing.
She is survived by her daughter- in -law, Veronica (Roni) Schadegg, of Casper WY; granddaughter, Shannon (Schadegg) Wolz and her husband Kevin, their 3 children, Ian, Alyanna and Kia; grandson, Michael Schadegg and his wife Savannah, their 2 children Zohee and Josiah. She has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, 6 sisters, 1 daughter; Mary Jo Policky and 1 son; Gerald R. Schadegg.
