Mary Maxine Willis, age 93, of Olympia, WA passed away in California on Sunday, June 5, 2022. Cremation has been held.

Mary Maxine Willis,93, passed away peacefully in Vista, California, on June 5th, 2022, at the home of her granddaughter with many of her family by her side. Maxine was born in Pocatello, Idaho on September 6th, 1928. She lived the greater part of her life in Olympia, Washington but also lived in Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, West Virginia, and California.

Maxine married the love of her life, James Willis, in 1948. They lived in Sidney, Nebraska until 1960 when they moved to Washington state. they had four children Michael (Shirlee), Jami (Mike), Mark (Polly), and Julie, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, and their extended family included many nieces and nephews.

Maxine worked in the downtown Olympia JC Penny store for many years. After her children were raised she began a career with the Olympia and Tumwater School Districts as a para-educator.

Maxine and Jim enjoyed their retirement years as snowbirds to Yuma, Arizona where they made many dear friends. Maxine loved crocheting, writing, painting. reading, and nature walks, but her greatest pleasure was being with family and friends.

Maxine was preceded in life by her parents Hugh and Floy Evans and her sisters Nina Andersen, and Margaret Hall. Maxine will be greatly missed but leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories shared by all, There will be a gathering of friends and family for a celebration of Maxine and her long and wonderful life at a later date in Olympia, Washington.
