Obituary for Phyllis J. Ladine

Phyllis J. Ladine, age 85 of Gurley, NE, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in Sidney. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 24th in the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Gurley with Pastor Leon “Bud” Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in the Dalton Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1-7:00 P.M. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Phyllis’ care and funeral arrangements.
Phyllis Joyann (Freudenberg) Ladine was born July 6, 1935 to Henry W. & Margaret (Fastenau) Freudenberg. She was the youngest of 8 children.
Phyllis grew up in the Gurley area attended and graduated from Gurley Public School. Her class was the first class to graduate from the “new” school which is now Leyton Elementary/Jr High School. She married the love of her life, Richard Ladine, on June 17, 1955 at Grace Lutheran Church in Gurley. They enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage. To this loving union 3 children were born, Troy, Kevin & Lori, to complete their happy family.
Phyllis taught school until she was married and then at the request of her husband she quit teaching to help him on the family farm where they lived until 2005 when they moved to Gurley. You could always find her helping with the farm animals, tending to her garden and helping in the harvest field as well as always having the meals prepared and something good to snack on.
She enjoyed being a 4-H leader and Boy Scout Den Mother. She was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was Youth Group Leader and held numerous positions in the Lutheran Church Women’s group until they closed the doors. She was also very active in American Legion Auxiliary and Eastern Star.
She was an inspiration to all those she came in contact with and had a smile that would light up the room. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and Nana. You could always find her playing any kind of game the grandkids or great grandkids wanted to play.
She will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind. Her husband, Richard (Dick) of Gurley. Her son Troy of Hallsville, TX and her daughter Lori (Tom) Coviello of Dalton, NE. Her Grandchildren, Monica (James) Beardsley of Kingman, KS, Kayla (Chris) Paris of Malverne, IA, Rachel and Erin Ladine of Hallsville, TX. Her step-grandchildren, Tom P. Coviello, Melissa (Troy) Hedin. Her Great Grandkids, Savanna Miles, Kevin, Alexia & Nolan Miller, Dylan Chaon, Damian, Katiera, Raevyn & Hadley Beardsley. Her step Great Grandchildren, Teagan, Gabrielle & Brennan Coviello and Trevor Krason. Her sister-in-law Marvel Moore and Joyce (Richard) Gibbins. Her brothers-in-law, Duane Ladine, Lyal (Joan) Ladine. As well numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was welcomed to her heavenly home by her parents, Henry & Margaret. Her 3 brothers, Elmer, Albert & Clifford Freudenberg. Her 4 sisters, Leota Barr, Ada Sommerfeld, Fern Neemann and Ruby Freudenberg. Her Son Kevin and her Grandson Brandon Miller. Her wonderful father-in-law and mother-in-law Art & Elsie Ladine. As well as numerous extended family and wonderful friends.
