Raymond Walter “Ray” Nienhueser

Raymond “Ray” Nienhueser, age 95 of Sidney, NE was called to his eternal home on November 10, 2018 in Sidney. Funeral services will be held on November 15, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran South Divide Church, with Pastor Neil Carlson officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran South Divide Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday from 1-7:00 P.M. with family present from 5-7:00 P.M. Raymond Walter “Ray” Nienhueser was born to William Henry Nienhueser and Augusta Marie Utecht Nienhueser on December 25, 1922 in Kenesaw, NE. In 1928 his family moved to Haxtun, CO where they farmed and later moved to the farm south of Sidney which became the home place. The family joined Trinity Lutheran Church in the South Divide area. Ray attended Trinity Lutheran School through 8th grade, and graduated from Sidney High School in 1941. Ray and his brother Vearn started a farming partnership in 1946, and was active on his farm until his death. Ray was united in marriage to Dorothy Lucille Laker on November 21, 1948 in Aurora, IN. One son Kerry Ray was born to this marriage on August 24, 1951. Ray was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and was very active in Church work all his life. He was active in Walther League, served on Trinity Church boards and served on the Wyoming District Board of Governors for 20 plus years and was also very active in the International Lutheran Layman’s League serving on the Board of Governors, as President for the Nebraska District from 1977 to 1980. Ray served as President of the Board of Directors for Sidney Memorial Hospital from 2000 to2012. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Nienhueser and Augusta Marie Nienhueser, his wife Dorothy Lucille Nienhueser and his son Kerry Ray Nienhueser, his brothers Clifford, Vearn, Arthur, Herb and Victor, his sisters Irene (Fischer), Mable (Tegtimeier), Eldora (Schubarth) and Helen (Koester). He is survived by his daughter-in-law Valerie Lynn Nienhueser of Sidney, and three grandchildren, Brad Nienhueser, Angela Ribera and her husband Tyler and Teresa Nienhueser, five great-grandchildren, Taylor Nienhueser of Portland Oregon, Grant Nienhueser of North Platte, NE, Sydney Ribera, Reese Ribera and Presley Ribera, all of Brule NE.
