Obituary for Reatha L Bentley
Reatha L. Bentley, 93, of Bridgeport, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the home of Ron and Evelyn Bentley 9811 Rd 75 Bayard, NE. Reatha was born to Floyd and Hazel (Miles) Friend on October 3, 1929 at the family home near Angora, Nebraska. On a trip to Grand Junction, Colorado to pick peaches, Reatha married Marvin Bentley at the courthouse in Grand Junction, CO with Joe and Addie Berry as witnesses to this union.
The couple returned to the area and began farming and ranching throughout Morrill County. Reatha worked at the Bridgeport Public Schools as well Heritage of Bridgeport Nursing Home.
Reatha is survived by her children and their spouses: Ron and Evelyn Bentley and Dale and Tracy Bentley all of Bayard, Jody and Frank Strong of Gering, Terry and Pam Bentley of Lincoln, and Penny and Cary Hoxworth of Bridgeport; 13 grandchildren Cassie (Russ) Cowles, Amber Gardner, Lane Bentley, Leander (Paige) Hopkins, Breanne Hopkins, Devin Wiekhorst, Samantha Schneider, Chad (Christina) Bentley, Kendra (Dustin) Ingersoll, Alecia (Cain) Nungesser, DJ (Jamie) Hoxworth, Matthew (Molly) Hoxworth, and Joshua (Brittany) Hoxworth; 17 great-grandchildren: Alexis, Harper, Dakota, Ronald, Bella, Melanie, Jonah, Kylee, Danica, Zadyn, Logan, Madison, Bryson, Henry, Landon, Kaitilynn, and Brant; one great-great-granddaughter Marci; sisters-in-law Arlene Bentley of Colorado and Pat Friend of Gering; nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Reatha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, infant sister, infant brother Clyde James, brother Rolland, and sisters Della Laux, Doris Grimes, Marlene Mullenix, Darlene Greene, Elva Wylie, and Leona Bentley.
