Rodney Carl Ahlm, age 75, a lifelong resident of Gurley, NE passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 7, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton, NE. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dalton. The service will be recorded and available for viewing on our website. Friends may stop at the church from 9:00 A.M. until service time to leave condolences. Memorials may be made in care of Brenda Ahlm, 4819 Road 125, Gurley, NE 69141 for later designation.

Rodney, known as Rod to those who knew him best, was born on January 23, 1947 in Dalton, NE to Carl and Jeanette (Aurich) Ahlm.
Rodney, graduated from Gurley School in 1964, during his childhood, Rod obtained his Eagle Scout. Later on, gaining his certification in scuba diving in 1967.
After meeting in 1978, Rod was united in marriage to Brenda (Ernest) on November 21, 1981. In their love, Rodney and Brenda built a family, raising their son, Christopher (Chris), and daughter, Leslie.
Rod was drafted into the US Army, thereafter, serving for the US National Guard. After serving in the military, he worked for the Egging Company as Head Accountant. He owned and operated two successful businesses: AHLM custom harvesting, Ahlm-Cruise custom harvesting for 13 years and Blue Marlin Bar in Gurley for 18 years. Rod worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2015, after 27 years of service.
When Rod wasn’t working, he could be found in the company of friends and family, and in the outdoors fishing, camping, and gardening.
Rod is preceded in death by son, Chris; parents Carl and Jeanette; grandparents Sexton and Mayme (Grandma Great) Ahlm; Oscar and Anna Aurich; father-in-law, Robert Ernest, and good fishing buddy Papa Shaw.
Rod will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Brenda; daughter Leslie, son-in-law Keith Risse, and their children, Maddux and Kendyll (Martin, SD); Chris’ daughters Meadow, Addie (Granite Canyon, WY), and Makenna (Hugo, CO); twin brother Rollie and wife Kathy Ahlm (Ft.Collins, CO); mother-in-law Eleanor Ernest (Dalton, NE); brothers and sisters in laws, many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
