Obituary for Ronald L Gusman

Ronald Lee Gusman, age 78, of Sidney, passed away on May 13, 2022, in his home with his loving family surrounding him. Cremation has taken place. The Wake will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 20, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney, NE, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M., Father C.P. Varghese officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, NE. Services will be recorded and available on our website for viewing. Memorials can be made in Ron's name to Pheasant's Forever Youth Mentor Hunt or Sidney Shooting Park.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1-6:00 P.M. and leave condolences for the family.

Ron was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska on November 10, 1943, to Emery and Mrytle Gusman. After graduating from Bridgeport High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he became an M.P. and was stationed in Vietnam. After returning, he married Janet Wilhelm in Bayard, Nebraska on August 6, 1967. They moved to Sidney where he was stationed with the Nebraska State Patrol. They started their family with daughter Devona and son Ryan. Ron became Sargent of the NSP and served for 33 years before retiring. Over the next 13 years, he worked for the Sidney Veteran’s Office. Ron enjoyed his loving family, fishing, hunting, and coffee with his buddies. But most of all, he enjoyed spending valuable time with his four precious granddaughters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years Jan, daughter Devona husband Kevin and their daughters Alecca and Aubrey Campbell, son Ryan wife Taryn and their daughters Jamisyn and Brityn Gusman all from Sidney. His sisters Patty Hollenback, LaDonna Loxterkamp, Cecilia Sanchez, one brother Leo and wife Carolyn Gusman. His many nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, five sisters, and eight brother-in-laws.
