Obituary for Rossanne S. Schilz

ROSSANNE S. SCHILZ
Rossanne Sylvia Schilz, 77 of Scottsbluff and longtime resident of Atkinson, NE passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 in Denver, CO after a brief illness. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Craig Collins officiating. A memorial service in Atkinson, NE will be held May 25, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Atkinson with Father Randy Goeke officiating with inurnment following at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday to sign Rossanne’s register book and drop off condolences for the family. Rossanne Sylvia Hale was born February 7th, 1942 to Irene and Clifton Hale in Hay Springs, NE. She lived in Hay Springs on their family farm until she met the love of her life, Roland Hilary Schilz. The two attended college at Chadron State College together and were married in Chadron on August 27th, 1960. Together they had two children. They welcomed their daughter, Deborah, on May 24th, 1961 and their son, Timothy, on June 10th, 1975.
Rossanne was known for her generous spirit and her strong faith in God. She spent nearly 20 years of her life serving the Lord as a pianist at the First United Methodist Church in Atkinson, NE. She had a strong love for music, reading, and especially liked going to the movies. Above all else Rossanne loved her family, especially her granddaughters and great-grandson.
Rossanne is survived by her daughter Deborah Surber and husband Wyatt of Scottsbluff, NE, son Timothy Schilz and wife Tina of Duncan, NE, her grandchildren Riley Stahlecker of Knoxville, TN, Taylor Wills and husband Quintin of Potter, NE, and Jordyn Surber and great-grandson Kamren both of Laramie, WY. She is also survived by her brother Edwin Hale and wife Gloria of Douglas, WY as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Rossanne was preceded in death by her husband Roland Schilz and longtime feline companion Skeeter, her parents Irene and Clifton Hale, and brother Jerry Hale.
