Obituary for Rudy Lawrence Anthony Virgil

Rudy Lawrence Anthony Virgil, age 81, of Sidney, NE was promoted to Heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday evening February 11, 2021 at Sidney Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life for Rudy will be Sunday May 23, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Lodgepole Valley Youth Camp in Sidney, NE. Cremation has been held.

Rudy was born May 23rd, 1939 in Sterling CO to Louis Max and Maria Antonia "Toni" (Sandoval) Virgil.
He was born again, receiving his salvation with his youngest brother, in 1974!
Rudy attended school in Sterling, CO and in Sidney, NE. He earned his G. E. Diploma from Sidney High School, August, 1958.
He went into the US Navy, 1957-1960, then he reenlisted in 1967-1971. He enjoyed the travel he experienced while serving.
Rudy married Stella Charlotte Sandoval in Denver, CO September 6, 1962.
Together they had daughters, Leonette M. Virgil October 18, 1966 & Mariette Louise Cañas (Virgil) May 13, 1973 both born in Denver, CO.
The family moved to Sidney, NE in 1974 to open a restaurant. Rudy and his youngest brother, Floyd, opened Virgil's El Tacosito, in May of 1974. They also both worked for Sidney Public Schools as custodians. Rudy & his brother later did painting and remodeling jobs, aside from the restaurant. Rudy stopped working when his health began to make it hard for him to continue. Rudy and Stella closed the restaurant doors in December, 2015.
Rudy enjoyed visiting with everyone! And truly cared for the souls of everyone he spoke with! He loved to go to church, fellowship and worship! Rudy always had a song in his heart and could have church anywhere!
Rudy is survived by his wife of 58+ years, Stella, his daughter Mariette and her husband, Jamie Cañas. Grandchildren Tré (16), Noah (13), KaLea (11). William Ogle and Paige Cook, great-granddaughters Madison (8) and Daphne(1yr), of Lincoln, NE, LeeAnn Ogle and fiancé Jacob Grauberger, great-granddaughters Penelope (1.5yr) and Amelia (born 2/10/2021) of Sidney, NE.
Brothers John Virgil, LeRoy Virgil, Ben Virgil, and Floyd Virgil. Sisters Margaret Guerra, Carmen Harris and Eleanor Dann.
Rudy is preceded in death by his beloved parents, his mother-in-law, two sisters, Mary and Rita and three brothers Alfred, Richard and Daniel. And their eldest daughter, Leonette.
