Obituary for Tyson A. Herrera

Tyson A. Herrera

Tyson Allan Herrera, age 25, of Ft. Collins and former Sidney resident, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 in Wyoming. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in the Evangelical Free Church in Sidney with Pastor Doug Birky officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Memorials may be made in care of the family for future designation. Friends and family may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday from 1-7:00 P.M. to sign Tyson’s register book and leave condolences for the family. Tyson Allan Herrera, the son of Timothy Allan Herrera and Shanna Marie (Barnhart) Garvin was born on March 19, 1994 in Sidney. He attended Sidney Public Schools where he was active in baseball, football and basketball. Following graduation Tyson attended South Plains Community College in Lubbock, TX and then Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE. Tyson began working in the Landscaping Industry while in Lincoln and moved up to a Foreman position with a Landscaping Company following a move to Fort Collins, CO.
Tyson will be remembered by many for his talents as a Pitcher and Shortstop but will be fondly remembered for his compassion for others, the outdoors and especially his love of family.
Survivors include his mother: Shanna Garvin and husband Charles; father: Timothy Herrera and wife Bitsie; (3) sisters: Jasmine Herrera of Fort Collins, Leticia Herrera and partner Josh Manchester of Sidney and Sharissa Herrera and partner Patrick Ortivez also of Sidney; (2) step-sisters: Janessa Garvin of Sidney and Amy Christofferson of Sidney; (3) step-brothers: Josh Garvin of Denver, CO, Marcus Garvin of Fort Collins and Corey Christofferson and wife Marcela of Sidney; grandparents: Tim and Lila Bassett of Sidney and Jeff Frerichs of Denver, CO; great-grandparents: Blanche Frerichs of Sidney and Denny and Nancy Bassett of Cozad, NE; (2) uncles: Chris Herrera of Kearney, NE and Jesse Bassett and wife Amber of Sidney; (1) aunt: Stephanie Lindemann and husband Dave of Rapid City, SD and many extended family members and friends.
Tyson was preceded in death by his grandmother: LaDonna Johnson, his grandfather: Ralph Herrera Jr.; uncle: Jeremy Barnhart; great-grandparents: Ben and Rita Barnhart, Harold Frerichs, JoAnn and Hershal Goen and Ralph and Maria Herrera.
