Virginia Mae Hotes

Virginia Mae Hotes, 83, passed away July 30th, 2019 at her home in Sidney, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held at Monday, August 5th at 2:30 P.M. at the New Heart Fellowship Church with Pastor Pete Morgan officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, Nebraska. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel to sign Virginia’s register book and leave condolences or the family. Memorial contributions are being established. Virginia Mae (Larson) Hotes was born June 1st, 1936 to Clifford and Irma (Norsworthy) Larson, in Sidney NE. Virginia grew up in Sidney, except for a short time that the family lived in Phoenix, AZ when she was a small child. She was a graduate of Sidney High School, class of 1954. After graduating High School, Virginia helped her father with bookkeeping at the family business, Larson Farm Machinery.
Virginia met Phillip B. Hotes in 1958 and the couple married on April 18th, 1959 in Killeen, TX where Phillip was stationed with the U.S Army. Virginia was very proud of having traveled to Germany in 1960 where she lived for some time while Phillip was stationed there. She returned to the States and set up home and spent the rest of her life being a home maker, mother, and grandmother.
To this union, 4 children were born. Donna, David, Dale, and Anna Marie.
Virginia was an avid member of 4H and enjoyed designing and making wool clothing to enter at the county fair where she won numerous 1st Place Prizes. Sidney had a “Guess the Couple” wedding photo contest that she won many years in a row. These contests sparked an interest in scrapbooking. Virginia made many scrapbooks of wedding and birth announcements throughout her life of Sidney families along with ones of her children’s and grandchildren’s art work and accomplishments. In early adulthood, she loved attending local dances, where she met her husband, and drive in movies. She also enjoyed Little Debbie Pastries and never missed an opportunity to watch an Elvis Presley or Rock Hudson movie.
Virginia is survived by her children Donna, David and Fiancé Rhonda Christensen, Dale Hotes, and Anna (Stacy) Bowker, all of Sidney. Grandchildren MacKenzie Bowker of Scottsbluff, Harlee Hotes of Chappell, Denim, Gage and Joslynn Hotes, Jennifer Cruz, Brooklyn and Dominic Christensen all of Sidney. Great-grandchildren, LiliAnna, Lucy, and Eldon Reichman of Chappell, and Zoey Petri of Sidney. Brother Richard (Diane) Larson, of Sidney, brother- in-Law Bill Hotes of Wray Colorado, and sisters-in-law Ila Samson of Loveland Colorado and Linda (Tom) Watson of Phoenix, Arizona, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip, in 2005, her parents, in-laws George and Doris Jackson, brother Gerald Larson, and sister in laws Dorothy Hotes and Anita Hilkemeier.
