Beloved mother and grandmother Virginia May (Pierson) Sittner passed away at age 99 at
Regional West Garden County Hospital on March 6, 2022. Virginia was born October 4, 1922 in
Chappell, Nebraska to Ray and Sadie (Goss) Pierson. She married Albert “Al” Sittner, the love of
her life, in 1942 and they settled in Sidney, Nebraska, where they raised three children, John,
Cheryl, and Kevin.

After finishing school, Virginia worked in a law office, for Midwest Equipment, and for Farmers
Insurance. Virginia loved spending time with her family, hosting large gatherings full of food,
card games, and laughter. She was a fan of Husker football, dancing, and traveling. She was an
avid golfer who enjoyed sharing that hobby with Al, and her children and grandchildren. She
was involved with the Sidney Elks Club and the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Walsh of Lincoln, son Kevin and
significant other Sandy Taylor of Sidney, granddaughters Sarah (Walsh) Bigsby and husband
Justin of Fremont, Kelley (Sittner) Bourgoin and husband Andre of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jamie
Sittner of Sidney, grandsons Jeff Walsh of Colorado Springs, Brian Walsh of Lincoln, Andrew
Walsh of Omaha, Zane Balfour and significant other Madelyn Dye of Sidney, and five greatgrandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by Al and her son John, her parents, sister Frances McCormick,
and brother Raymond.

Though her smile is gone forever and her hand we cannot touch, we will cherish all the
memories of the one we loved so much. God has her in his keeping and we have her in our
hearts. Sorely missed but never forgotten.
