GENEVIEVE Y. HINRICHS-SCHMITT

Genevieve Y. Hinrichs-Schmitt, age 90, passed from this life on October 24, 2012 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. She was a current resident at the Senior Citizen Resident Center in Clovis, NM and had been a resident in Gurley, NE for sixty-five years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 30th in the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Eric Alm and Rev. Ruth Boettcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Weyerts Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 1-7:00 P.M. at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel.

Genevieve was born on December 2, 1921 in Pilger, NE to William and Olga Petersan. She attended Wayne State College, receiving her teacher’s certificate. She moved to Western Nebraska to teach school and there she met Robert Hinrichs. On April 2, 1943, they were united in marriage and she worked by his side for fifty-five years. For several years she worked as an accountant at Western Nebraska Vo-Tech. She was a member of Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church.
In 1998 Robert passed away and on June 22, 2001 she married John Schmitt and they enjoyed several years of traveling until her health failed and they moved to Clovis, NM to be near her daughter.
Survivors include (1) daughter: Dianna Jeffries and husband Clois; (1) son: Robert Hinrichs and wife Kathy of North Platte, NE; (1) sister: Rena Bowman of Red Oak, IA; (3) brothers: Melvin Peterson and wife Ann of Lajoya, CA, Donis Petersan and wife Marj of Lincoln, NE and Douglas Petersan and wife RaeJean of Bella Vista, AR; very special niece: Robin Schmidt and husband Ken of Ft. Wayne, IN; (5) granddaughters: Michelle Christie and husband Gavin of Edmond, OK, Megan Jacobs of Albuquerque, NM, Jennifer and Sara Hinrichs of North Platte and Renae Hinrichs of Omaha; (3) great-grandchildren: Kathryn, Anna and Benjamin Christie.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother: Theodora Petersan, her husband Robert, and husband John in May 2012, (4) sisters: Evelyn Petersan, Eunice McDonell, Myrna Madison and Marilyn Frantz and (2) grandchildren: DeAnna Jacobs and Michael Jacobs.
