MARK A. FLANDER

Mark A. Flander, age 61 of Sidney, NE passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Sidney Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 3rd in the Evangelical Free Church in Sidney with Pastor Doug Birky officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mark’s name to the church or in care of the family to be designated at a later date.

Mark Andrew Flander, the son of Peter and Karyl (Cater) Flander, was born on July 29, 1952 at Ottumwa, IA. He graduated from Keota High School in 1970 and studied Fisheries and Wildlife Biology at Iowa State before graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Industrial Arts Education. Mark worked as a County Park Ranger in Muscatine, IA and for Klima-Gro Inc. in Buffalo, MN before moving to Sidney to work at Cabela’s in 1987.
Mark was a faithful member of the Sidney Evangelical Free Church and a former Sunday School Teacher.
Survivors include his wife: Nadine of Sidney; (1) son: Andy of Sidney; his father: Peter “Stibe” Flander of Keota, IA; (2) brothers: Chris Flander and wife Jane of Oskaloosa, IA and Pete Flander and wife Sharen of Louisburg, KS; (1) sister: Melody Bombei and husband Ron of Keota, IA; his mother-in-law: Doris Pinke of Palm Harbor, FL; (3) brothers-in-law: Bruce Pinke and wife Carolyn of Minneapolis, MN, Keith Pinke and wife Linda of Oldsmar, FL and Scott Pinke and wife Peggy of Dallas, TX; (2) sisters-in-law: Nancy Prenatt and husband Mike of Hudson, FL and Allison Moser and husband Harvey of Buffalo, MN and numerous extended family members and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother: Karyl and father-in-law: Edmund Pinke.
