BERNICE E. MILLER

Bernice E. Miller age 98 of Sidney, NE passed away at her home Thursday, October 3, 2013.
Cremation has taken place and no formal services are planned at this time. Private family graveside services will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial is being established and contributions may be made in care of the family.

Bernice Elizabeth Miller, the daughter of Fred J. and Myra Jane (Bayne) Beyer, was born on August 14, 1915 in Sidney. She graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy and in 1934 Bernice was united in marriage to Raymond Portz. Raymond later died in an auto accident. Bernice attended Cosmetology School in Omaha, NE. She met Richard H. “Bing” Miller and on April 29, 1941 they were united in marriage in Omaha. They returned to Sidney and Bernice worked at Fueher Beauty Shop. After raising her children, Bernice took a brush up course in Cosmetology and opened a Shop in her home in Dalton with her daughter Marian. She later moved Miller Beauty Shop outside her home and also opened a shop in Sidney. Bernice moved to Las Vegas in 1965 where she remained until her retirement when she returned to Sidney. In her later years she was cared for by her daughter Jill Miller and Judy Cooper.
Bernice loved to crochet, do needle point, bowl and was a loving mother, homemaker and was a true Prayer Warrior.
Survivors include her children: Marian Hernandez and Sandra Rolls and husband Richard all of Sidney, Gary Miller and wife Velma of Humble, TX, Michael Miller and wife Ronda of Heber, UT and Jill Miller of Sidney; (12) grandchildren, (21) great-grandchildren, (3) great-great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, (2) husbands: Raymond Portz and Richard “Bing” Miller, (1) son-in-law: Ferd Hernandez, (4) siblings: Joe Beyer, Clara Welton, Willis Beyer and Raymond Beyer and (2) grandchildren: Patrick Hernandez and Julia Hernandez.
