LaWanda J. Bennett

LaWanda Bennett, age 87 of Bayard, NE and former longtime Sidney resident, passed away at Skyview at Bridgeport, Monday, February 13, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 17th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sidney with Bishop Merlin Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family has designated the Regional West Stroke Support Group of Scottsbluff as the memorial. LaWanda Bennett was born January 9, 1930 in Sidney to Ray and Florence Evans. She married Edwin L. Bennett of Sidney on May 20, 1950. She lived in Sidney for most of her life before moving to Bayard. She was an avid gardener, artist, and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers Virgil and Alfred “Roy” Evans.
Survivors include brother Don Evans of Bayard, brother Paul & Sue Evans of Bayard, sister Connie & Don Benker of Greeley, daughter Bonnie & Jim Keola of Bountiful, Utah, son Ed & Debbie Bennett of Sidney, daughter Karen & Mike Gade of Scottsbluff, 8 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
