John Aloysius Lenzen was born on October 15, 1960, in Sidney to Arthur and Linda (Hopkins) Lenzen. After graduation from St. Patrick’s High School, and attending Carroll College in Helena Montana, he returned to farm with his father, focusing on raising wheat and beef cattle. Additionally, John worked closely with older farmers in the area for years.
John is survived by his mother Linda of Omaha, NE; six brothers and seven sisters: Bernard (Mary) of Sidney, Teresa (Jose) of Omaha, Andrew (Lydia) of Sidney, Lucy of Cicero IL, Agatha (Joe) Poteat of Omaha NE, Agnes of San Rafael CA, Monica (Rich) Claahsen of Plano IL, Paul (Maria) of Irving TX, Francis of Sidney, Gerard (Kelly) of Hinckley MN, Mary (Grant) Miller of London England, Judith (Dick) Cooper of Manchester MO, and Peter (KyungHee) of Bloomington IN.
John was very active in his faith journey, reading voraciously about Church history. John preferred an ascetic lifestyle. John greatly enjoyed visits from his brothers and sisters, and always wanted to understand where their life’s journey has taken them. While John’s declining health caused some physical limitations in recent years, it did not diminish his indomitable spirit and lively discussions with family members and neighbors.
John was close to his God and to the earth. He has gone home.
