Mr. O'Connell (he was never anything but that to us) was my first Little League coach. I was possibly the least skilled baseball player ever, but he always showed the greatest patience and kindness with me. I never amounted to much as a baseball player, but I like to think that his kindness played some role in making me a better person. His legacy spreads far across the world.
