Donald L. Fehringer, age 88 of Peetz, CO, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Sidney Regional Medical Center.
Wake services will be held at 6:00 P.M., Monday, evening February 11th with Mass of Christian Burial services at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 12th. Both services will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peetz with Father Robert Wedow officiating. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from noon until 4:00 P.M.

Donald Lavern Fehringer, the son of Anthony Francis and Loretta Geraldine (Schilz) Fehringer, was born on December 22, 1924 at Platte Center, NE. He had two sisters Marietta and Aurleen and one brother Ivan. Donald moved with his family to the Peetz area in 1929 where he attended school and graduated from Peetz High School. Following graduation Donald farmed in the Peetz Community. On June 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Joyce Westphalen at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peetz. They had four children Randy, Jim, LuAnne and Kevin.
Donald was an active member of Sacred Heart Church including Parish Council President and Choir Director, a member of the Peetz Lion’s Club, the Knights of Columbus, the Peetz Telephone Company Board, a thirty year member of the Peetz Fire District Board and Department, was a Cub Master for the Boy Scouts and received the Silver Beaver Award, a Soil Conservation Board member, a former Logan County Farmer’s Union President, was an agent for Farmer’s Union Insurance for forty-five years, was on the Milk Producers Association Board, the CSU Advisory Committee and served on the Council on Aging. Donald also received the Logan County Outstanding Farmer Award and went on to be runner-up on the state level and was recognized as the Logan County Democrat of the Year.
Survivors include his wife: Carolyn of Peetz; (3) sons: Randy and wife Marijayne of Peetz, Jim and wife Barb of McCool Junction, NE and Kevin and wife Sarah of Aurora, CO; (1) daughter: LuAnne Schumacher and husband Phil of Peetz; (2) sisters: Marietta Leypoldt of Sidney and Aurleen Nelson and husband Arleigh of Loveland, CO; (1) brother: Ivan and wife Donna of Peetz; (9) grandchildren, (7) great-grandchildren; brother-in-law: Vernon and Milly Westphalen of Peetz and numerous extended family members and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, (2) brothers-in-law: Nyle Leypoldt and George Louderback, sister-in-law: Virginia Nagengast and husband Paul and several extended family members.
