A granddaughter's memories

What I remember most about grandpa is the way his eyes would light up, his big smile and light hearted chuckle every time he saw you. He would wrap his arms around you and give you a REAL hug and kiss. This is the kind of hug and kiss that you could feel in your heart...its the kind that stays with you forever. He never had to speak a word because you knew he loved you-an unconditional love that you only experience here and there throughout your life. My grandfather helped mold all of his kids and grandkids into who we are today. My granfather molded my life in many ways but the most impactful was when he and my grandmother convinced me to go to farmers union camp as a young child. The moment I got off the bus in Bailey Colorado I knew I had found a piece of heaven on Earth. To this day the RMFU campground is my favorite place...so many fond memories of new and old friends, games, skits, laughing, dancing, learning, singing....you name it and we did it. I spent 12 summers up there and they were the best summers of my life. Now my children go there every summer and have fallen in love with farmers union camp just like I did growing up. Thank you for this grandma and grandpa. When I reflect on my grandpa's life, I remember the things he did but it's the things he didn't do that most stick out in my mind. He did not treat others poorly or turn his back when they needed his love, support or help. He did not put God or his family last. He did not keep things for himself in a selfish manner. He did not spend his money frivolously. He never left his home and spent his life contributing to his home and this community he so loved. I have not known a better man. I feel blessed to have had so much time here on earth with him and my children have been fortunate to know and love him as well. You and grandma's marriage and love have always been an inspiration to Jeff and I. We only pray for the opportunity to spend as many years together as you both had-what a blessing! Your devout faith and love for each other and God our father truly is rare and inspiring.. There is no replacing you grandpa...you are truly golden-one of a kind-and you will be missed. I look forward to the day we meet again in heaven for eternal life. Love you grandpa....and grandma(if you are reading this) I love you so very much too! -Michelle Marie
